Sappi Bursary Eligibility

South African citizenship an average of 70-80% in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy), 70-80% in Physical Science, and 60% in English, and qualifying points for entrance at the university, or acceptance confirmation.
Current university results will be considered for undergraduate students. Note that preference will be given to learners with an average of 75% and above in Mathematics and Physical Science.

South African citizens studying or intending to study full time at any South African accredited universities.
Bursaries are for school leavers and current university students aged between 18 and 25 years.
An average of 70-80% in Mathematics (Not Maths Literacy); 70-80% in Physical Science and 65% in English

The objective of the Harmony Gold Bursaries scheme is to recruit and select bursars for full time study at accredited Tertiary Institutions. Mining Engineering Bursaries

Mining is an underground or open cast process whereby minerals are extracted by means of explosives.
 
Metallurgy (extractive only) Bursaries
Metallurgy is the study of the economical recovery of precious metals and minerals. (Exploring by use of all the disciplines and techniques.)
 
Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (Heavy current only)

A competent Electrical or Mechanical Engineer is a member of the management team at each operation. They are responsible for the safe installation and the proper operation, running and maintenance of all machinery, both electrical and mechanical. They are also responsible for the safe erection and proper maintenance of all buildings and structures on these operations.
 
Geology (Ore Reserves)

At Harmony the Geologist is an integral member of the Management Team, and is accountable for extracting ore body in an optimal manner. At an early stage the geologist will apply his/her knowledge to the practical solution of problems in the underground environment, liasing closely with the production teams. Daily duties include underground mapping, borehole logging, data collection and synthesis (structural, sedimentological and grade) and communication of their findings to the rock breaking teams.
Finance

The finance department is responsible for all financial transactions. The correct allocation, classification and value of these transactions should be done on a daily basis.

The function is also responsible to ensure that the company complies with certain statutory requirements as lined out by the Companies and Tax Acts.

The Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) is offering bursaries and invites all talented and high performing unemployed full-time learners to apply for financial assistance.

PetroSA is offering bursaries to South African students from previously disadvantaged communities to pursue undergraduate studies at South African higher education institutions.

Telkom has set out a list of application requirements. These are regarded as important if your application is to be considered:

You must be a South African citizen
Be able to prove that you are in need of financial assistance
You must have completed your Matric
You must be studying or intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study

Additional to these requirements, it also depends on what type of institution you are going to enroll to:

For University aplicants

You need to achieve at least a minimum of 60% or C symbol for English, Mathematics and Science at Matric

Current tertiary students: achieved a minimum average of 60% and no failed subjects

For University of Technology students:

You must achieved a minimum of 50% or “D” symbol for English, Mathematics and Science in Matric
Current tertiary students: achieved a minimum average of 60% and no failed subjects

For TVET College Applicants

Achieved a minimum of 50% or “D” symbol for English, Mathematics and Science in Matric
Current tertiary students: achieved a minimum average of 60% and no failed subjects

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY?

Applications are open every year and application forms can be collected from your nearest Telkom Centre for Learning (CFL). 

Bursary applicants must attach certified copies of:
  • identity document and 
  • most recent matric or tertiary results to the application form.

CLOSING DATE

The closing date for Telkom bursary is the 31st of July each year. This is to allow Telkom to conduct interviews and to complete the selection process before the end of the current year.

CETA BURSARY SOUTH AFRICA 2020

CETA Bursary Information (2020 - 2021)


The Bursary team is confident that they will select the cream of the crop, noting that approximately 70% of the applicants already meet the minimum requirements – that of 60% in Mathamtics and Science.

The Department has finalized the process of capturing the applicants onto the Bursary system. Currently, the Bursary team is liaising with applicants who have outstanding information that is required for the entire process to be conducted properly.


Once all of this leg-work has been completed, the Department will commence with the weighing process, where they consider all the provided information for the purposes of determining which of the new applicants will receive a bursary for 2021.

The weighing process is informed by:

• Minimum requirements of 60% in Science and Mathamatics
• The applicants affordability

• Age bracket of between 16 and 35 years

• SA Citizenship

• Scarce and critical skills urgently needed by the construction industry


The Department anticipates informing the successful applicants by next year February/March at the latest.
CETA’s investment in the youth is informed by the fact that young people are integral to the future of the construction sector, and indeed the country. The organisation has therefore strategically positioned itself to play a role in ensuring that the youth of South Africa realise the personal value and the national imperative of entering the construction sector.

CETA has also signed an MOU with the National Youth Development Agency to fund skills development programmes to a tune of 2.1 Million.
