Eskom Bursaries 2020 - 2021
Eskom is a state owned company which was first incepted in year 1923 by the then government. The main aim of setting up Eskom was so that it can generate and supply electricity to the rest of the country.
Eskom generates around 95% of electricity that is consumed by the people of South Africa.
The Eskom bursary programme is similar to Spoornet bursary in that it has its objective being to create a pool of graduates who are ready to join the company's operations when new talent is needed.
The bursary is allocated for the following fields of study:
Metallurgical engineering
Nucelar engineering
Chemical engineering
Environmental sciences
Civil engineering
Electronics engineering
Electrical engineering
Computer engineering
Information technology
The above-listed career options are for student who are enrolled at university within the boarders of South Africa.
Below are bursary options that are assigned for university of technology career options:
Metallurgical engineering
Electrical engineering
Chemical engineering
Mechanical engineering
Industrial engineering
Risk and Safety
And for TVET colleges study option, Eskom makes the following bursary opportunities available:
Carpenters
Bricklayers
Plumbers
Welders
Power Plant Operators
Millwrights
Boiler Makers
Fitters & Turners
Mechanical
Control & Instrumentation
Electricians
Eskom bursary opportunities are divided into two option and them being full time and scholarships. The full bursary option is for applicants with a very strong academic background and scholarship option is for children or defendants of Eskom employees. Strong academic background is also recommended for this option.
Valid South African ID
You must have completed your Matric
Be prepared to undergo medical screening
Proof of admission at a university or university of technology
Academic Application Requirements
Have passed with a minimum C symbol in both Maths and Physical Science
For the university of technology applicants, at least D symbol for both Maths and Physics
FET college applicants must have passed their Matric with at least symbol E for Maths and and Physics.

Eskom Bursary Amount
Eskom commits to paying the cost of students toward the following expenses:- tuition and registration fees
- meals
- accommodation
- books
- PC allowances
- vacation allowance
Who Can Apply for Eskom Bursary?
