The National Metrology Institute of South Africa - NMISA bursaries invites applications from current Matric learners, South African with a Matric certificate, as well as current students or prospective students in both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study in specific science and engineering related fields to apply for their 2017 Bursaries.




NMISA Bursaries Available


The bursaries are available to full-time students in any of the following subjects: Engineering (Electrical/ Electronic, Mechanical), Materials Science, Physics and Chemistry.

NMISA Bursaries Requirements


The requirements differ, depending on which level of education you have completed or are currently completing:

For current Grade 12 / Matric learners:
Must be planning to study towards a tertiary qualification in any of the following: Engineering (Electrical/ Electronic, Mechanical), Materials Science, Physics or Chemistry;
Be a South African citizen; and
Be able to provide Grade 11 results and a Grade 12 progress report.
For school-leavers with a completed Grade 12 certificate:
Must be planning to study towards a tertiary qualification in Chemistry, Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic), Physics or Materials Science;
Be a South African; and
Have a Grade 12 certificate passed with good marks.
For students already at tertiary:
Be a South African student studying towards a post graduate or undergraduate qualification in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science or Physics.

GIBB BURSARIES 2021


The GIBB Bursaries scheme is currently open. The below is an overview of this bursaries scheme and what it offers to students.

What is offered?

A GIBB bursary covers:

Cost of tuition at any university in South Africa
Books
Travel costs where applicable
Accommodation where applicable
Vacation employment
Requirements/Instructions

Students must be South African citizens with a valid ID Book / Card.
Students must be studying towards an Engineering Degree, Honours or Masters, with specialisation in the following disciplines: Civil, Electrical, Rail and Roads.
Students must have successfully completed their 1st year of study.
For students in University 2nd, 3rd year, Honours or Masters, studying in one of the fields mentioned above need to maintain a 60% average to apply.
You must attach certified copies of the below documents in order to be considered:

• ID
• CV
• Matric Certificate
• Full tertiary academic record

Contract Obligation

Employment at any GIBB office in South Africa
Practical training, as required by the university, will be provided where possible during winter and/or summer vacations.
The tenure of the bursary is subject to good academic progress. Should a bursary holder’s academic results fall below an average of 60%, the continuance of the bursary may be reviewed.
The closing date for bursaries is the 31 August 2021.

NFVF Bursaries

NFVF Bursaries


The NFVF’s bursary programme is aimed at building capacity by upskilling film & TV professionals for global competitiveness through its support of qualifying applicants for overseas studies which are not offered in South African tertiary institutions.





The National Film & Video Foundation (NFVF) is a statutory body mandated to spearhead the equitable growth and development of the SA film and video industry.

However, Live Performance or Acting programmes are excluded.

Four (4) bursaries will be awarded for the 2017 academic year with a cap of R250 000 inclusive of tuition and living expenses.

Qualifying Criteria:

Must apply six months before the course starts.
Be a South African citizen;
Have a good academic record;
Demonstrate a need for a financial assistance; and
Enrolled at an accredited overseas tertiary institution for a full time studies; post graduate film/TV programme (course must be commencing in January 2017 and not available in South Africa).
Applications must be accompanied by a detailed motivation why the applicant must be awarded a bursary together with all the certified copies of supporting documents as indicated in the application form.

Applications will not be considered if:

The application form is incomplete or wrong information is provided;

Supporting documents are missing or not certified;



Please note that applications sent via email or fax will not be considered.

Liberty Group Bursaries


Bursaries are granted for full-time study of Actuarial Science at various tertiary institutions. Applicants must show the ability to innovate and share our passion for people; thus maintaining our competitive advantage.



Successful applicants are expected to do a minimum amount of vacation work during the June and December holidays at Liberty Life's Head Office in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
Bursaries are reviewed after each examination based on the student's academic performance and are renewed annually. All bursaries are granted on merit, but preference is given to black (African, Coloured and Indian) applicants.

Candidate Requirements:
Grade 12 learners
Excellent overall results including a distinction for higher grade mathematics.
A minimum of two distinctions (including mathematics) if higher grade physical science is one of the incumbent's subjects.
A minimum of four distinctions (including mathematics) if physical science is not one of the incumbent's subjects.
At tertiary level, students must maintain continuous excellence in academic performance in all subjects.
Good leadership qualities and participation in extramural activities such as sports, debating societies, chess clubs and various Olympiads, etc are an added advantage.

Conditions of Bursary:
All bursars are obliged to complete a period of employment for every year of sponsorship. The standard employment contract will be entered into once studies are completed.

First year students qualify for a calculator allowance. Applications are open to all students regardless of the year of study. Once approved, the bursar will enter into an agreement with Liberty Life that will be renewed annually.
