BURSARY INFORMATION - TELKOM

Telkom allocates millions of rands for the development of South Africa. One of the areas where this money is directed is education. Telkom offers financial assistance in a form of a bursary.  Applicants from previously disadvantaged backgrounds are invited to apply.

You must be able to demonstrate that you are a hard worker.

The Telkom bursary are allocated for different fields of study. The main focus is engineering and business studies.

REQUIREMENTS & VALUE

Telkom has set out a list of application requirements. These are regarded as important if your application is to be considered:

You must be a South African citizen
Be able to prove that you are in need of financial assistance
You must have completed your Matric
You must be studying or intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study

BSc in Electrical Engineering(Light Current)

University of Technology

National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current)
National Diploma in Computer Systems Engineering
National Diploma in Information Technology

TVET college (N stream)

National N Diploma Electrical Engineering (Light Current)

WHO MUST APPLY?

Telkom might update these requirements but they will be communicated during the process of bursary application.

Additional to these requirements, it also depends on what type of institution you are going to enroll to:

For University aplicants

You need to achieve at least a minimum of 60% or C symbol for English, Mathematics and Science at Matric

Current tertiary students: achieved a minimum average of 60% and no failed subjects

For University of Technology students:

You must achieved a minimum of 50% or “D” symbol for English, Mathematics and Science in Matric
Current tertiary students: achieved a minimum average of 60% and no failed subjects

For TVET College Applicants

Achieved a minimum of 50% or “D” symbol for English, Mathematics and Science in Matric
Current tertiary students: achieved a minimum average of 60% and no failed subjects

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY?

Applications are open every year and application forms can be collected from your nearest Telkom Centre for Learning (CFL). 

Bursary applicants must attach certified copies of:
  • identity document and 
  • most recent matric or tertiary results to the application form.

CLOSING DATE

The closing date for Telkom bursary is the 31st of July each year. This is to allow Telkom to conduct interviews and to complete the selection process before the end of the current year.
