The South African SKA Project is a project of the Department of Science and Technology, administered by the National Research Foundation.

SKA SA is responsible for South Africa’s bid to host the Square Kilometre Array Radio Telescope, the design and construction of the Karoo Array Radio Telescope (MeerKAT) and the development of high-level capacity in radio astronomy and the engineering disciplines relevant to radio astronomy

South African Square Kilometre Array Project invites applications for the 2015 Undergraduate and Honours Bursary Programme.

SKA Bursaries Requirements


The following students are eligible for an SKA SA undergraduate or honours bursary

South African citizens ONLY.
Students who wish to study, or are studying, towards a Bachelor of Science degree; majoring in Physics and Mathematics, at a South African university.
Students who wish to study towards a Bachelor of Science – Honours degree at a South African university; and who majored in Physics and Mathematics at undergraduate level,

Students who wish to study, or are studying, towards a Bachelor of Engineering degree (Electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering only), at a South African university.
Students who have achieved a minimum C in mathematics and science in Grade 12, or a minimum 60% for major subjects at undergraduate level.
Students who intend to pursue postgraduate research in radio astronomy, or in an engineering discipline relevant to radio astronomy.

Fidelity Fund Bursaries

Fidelity Fund Bursaries 2015 - 2016


The Fund’s Board of Control will in each case determine the amount of the bursary.
A bursary can be awarded for a maximum period of two years at a South African University.

Bursaries Application Criteria


Current students at university,
BA (Law), BComm (Law), BJuris or BProc, and
Successful completion of the first 2 years of the 4-year LLB curriculum

Bursaries Application Requirements

The minimum requirement for qualification for such a bursary is a BA (Law), B Comm (Law), B Iuris or B Proc degree or a similar qualification or proof of successful completion of the first two years of the revised 4-year LLB curriculum.
If you are currently in your 1st semester of your second year, we can assist with a bursary for your 3rd and 4th year of study.


Alternatively

If you are currently in your 1st semester of your third year, we can assist with a bursary for your final year of study.
Preference will be given to applicants in serious financial need, although outstanding academic merit will be taken into consideration.
A bursary shall only be applied towards the tuition fees of a recipient.

MasakhiSizwe Bursaries

MasakhiSizwe Bursaries for 2015




The name MasakhiSizwe comes from the Nguni tribe meaning “Let’s Build the Nation” and aims to develop the nation through education and training.

The Department of Transport and Public Works’ established the Masakh’iSizwe Bursary Programme in 2006.

It partnered with Higher Education Institutions (HEI), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and the relevant professional bodies to develop professionals in engineering and the built environment fields by offering bursaries to study towards a degree or higher diploma in the following disciplines:

Bursaries Available


Architecture.
Construction Management.
Civil Engineering.
Electrical Engineering.
Mechanical Engineering.
Quantity Surveying.
Town and Regional Planning.
The Masakh’iSizwe Bursary Programme:


Prioritises financially disadvantaged learners when awarding bursaries, especially women and learners from rural communities

Provides support services programmes.

Secures learning opportunities for Masakh’iSizwe bursars (i.e. interns).

Secures employment opportunities for graduates.
