DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY BURSARIES

Bursary Information


Department of Energy bursaries will be offered to 10 successful applicants who intend pursuing tertiary education in any accredited institution in South Africa.

Who Must Apply?

• Applicants must: be South African citizens, a matric student or be studying at an accredited South African Educational Institution
in the above mentioned field of study as well as be prepared to enter into an agreement with the Department of Energy (DoE)
and should not have any other bursary funding.
• Applicants must complete the DOE bursary application form, attach a motivational letter, comprehensive curriculum vitae,
certified copies of Matric Certificate/latest matric results, Identity Document, proof of registration and recent academic records.
Application forms are available on the Department’s website at: www.energy.gov.za or at the reception of the Department of
Energy.

Bursary Value

• No stipend (the bursary will cover: tuition fees, books, accommodation and meals).

TIGER BRANDS BURSARY

Tiger Brands Bursary Programme


Tiger Brands bursaries are offered to students to complete a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial). These students will ‘work back’ their bursaries for a period equal to the period of their studies. 

Bursaries are awarded to successful candidates for the following course of study: If you are interested in Workplace Experience opportunities such as In-service training, Internships or Work Integrated Learning or applying for a bursary.

NSFAS EXTENDS APPLICATION DATE

January 08, 2014
The closing date for new NSFAS applications at the universities and FET colleges listed below has been extended to 31 January 2014:

The following students must apply:
•             Students who are already studying at university or college but who did not receive NSFAS funding in 2013 and who want to apply for funding for the 2014 academic year
•             Learners who want to apply for financial aid to study in 2014

Students at all other universities and FET colleges must apply through the Financial Aid Office at the university or FET college after they have registered in 2014.

WHO MAY APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID?
South African citizens who have the academic potential to succeed at university or FET college, and require financial assistance to pay for their studies.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Please read these notes carefully before completing the Online Application Form. Make sure that you read every section and that the information you provide is accurate.

You must write your identity (ID) number in the top right-hand corner on every page of all your supporting documents.
You will need to attach documents to support your application. Click here to see a list of documents you will need before you can fill in the NSFAS Online Application Form.
NSFAS will only process the first application that we receive. Please do not submit more than one application unless NSFAS requests you to do so.
NSFAS requires a cell phone number or email address in order to communicate with you during the application process. If you do not already have an email address, you can create a free email account on at www.gmail.com or at www.yahoo.co.za or any other free email service.
If your application is successful, NSFAS will use the cell phone number which you write on the application form to pay some of your student allowances by cell phone voucher.
If you do not already have a bank account, please open a bank account at any bank such as Postbank, ABSA, Capitec, FNB, Standard Bank, Nedbank or others. Some student allowances will be paid into your bank account.

CLOSING DATES

ANNUAL, FIRST SEMESTER & FIRST TRIMESTER REGISTRATIONS
The closing date for application submission and all completed required documents for existing university or FET college non-NSFAS students for the following academic year is 15 December.
The closing date for application submissions and all completed required documents, for learners, is 10 January for that academic year.

SECOND SEMESTER REGISTRATION
The closing date for application submission and all completed required documents for new applicants wanting to apply for financial aid prior to the second semester registration is 15 June.

SECOND TRIMESTER AND THIRD TRIMESTER REGISTRATIONS
The closing dates for application submissions and required documents, for new applicants wanting to apply for financial aid, are 31 March and 31 July respectively, for second and third trimester registrations.

How do I send my required documents for my Online Application to NSFAS?
Your required documents can be sent to NSFAS using one of the following channels within the prescribed closing dates:

1. Scan or email your required documents to NSFAS using the following email address: apply@nsfas.org.za
2. Fax your required documents to NSFAS using the following fax number: 086 644 2822.
3. Post your required documents to NSFAS: Private Bag X4, Plumstead, 7801.

PLEASE NOTE:

Online applications submitted without required documentation will be accepted but will not be processed until the supporting documents are received.
You must write your identity (ID) number in the top right-hand corner on every page of all your required documents in order for your application to be processed.
Required documents without an identity number will not be processed.

EXXARO BURSARIES 2021

Exxaro offers bursaries only to candidates currently in GR 12 (or to recently matriculated candidates) who will commence with first year studies in the next academic year.


The selection process occurs annually with the support of the Exxaro Community Development Practitioners at all Exxaro Business Units.
Bursaries Fields of Study

Exxaro Bursary Value

    The comprehensive bursary will cover tuition & book fees, and allowances for residence & meals.

Who Qualifies

B Eng / BSc Degree courses
A minimum level 6 for Maths & Science, English minimum Level 5
Diploma courses:
A minimum level 5 for Maths, Science & English

Current Gr. 12 learners will be evaluated on their Gr. 11 final results.
Recently matriculated applicants will be evaluated based on Gr.12 final results.
Applicants should apply for one discipline only.
Applicants should be in compliance with the minimum entry requirements as prescribed by the relevant universities.
Bursary opportunities are only available to South African Citizens.
    Nominated applicants will need to go through a selection process (Including psychometric assessment & medical examination).
    Successful candidates should be willing to be placed at any of the operations of Exxaro on completion of studies (Bursars only).

EXXARO CREATES MORE OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE BSc 4 YEAR PROGRAMME

If you’ve recently passed or are busy with your Grade 12 and you’re from a historically disadvantaged background, the Exxaro BSc 4 year programme is for you.

WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THE EXXARO BSc 4 YEAR PROGRAMME

The programme is hosted by the University of Pretoria from January to November each year.
The development programme can help to prepare the student to compete on merit for a bursary.
Thus, after successful completion of the first year of this programme, candidates may be considered for an Exxaro Bursary to study a degree or diploma course.
This all inclusive sponsorship for one year (1) covers tuition, book, accommodation, meals fees and contributes towards miscellaneous expenses.
